Detailed Itinerary

Our guide will be waiting for you at the Cheepunkal Bridge at Kumarakom. You can reach this check-in point by hiring a tuk-tuk or a taxi. At the check-in point, you will receive safety jackets and the guide will give you important safety instructions for the kayaking tour. We request that you pay close attention to all the instructions. He will also conduct some basic warm ups to train your muscles. Then the guide will take you to the kayak.

You will be paddling the kayak on your own. Our guide will follow you on another kayak, giving you all the needed assistance during the tour. The whole tour, which includes kayaking and other experiences, lasts for about 3 hours. The main highlights of this package are:

Self-paddling:

The kayaking tour would be especially interesting for adventure enthusiasts. Unlike a canoe cruise, the kayaking tour allows you to paddle the boat with your own hands. The guide will be following on another kayak. So you can explore the beautiful canals of the backwaters at your own pace, absorbing the natural beauty around you. And please remember that paddling a kayak requires some muscle strength. So we hope you come in prepared.

Bird Watching:

Kumarakom, with its variety of native and exotic birds, is a bird lover’s paradise. You will be able to spot egrets, herons, owls, cormorants, and other delightful birds. The chirping of these birds creates a tranquil environment and complements the sunrise and sunset views, making the kayaking experience truly memorable.

Watching the Casting of Fishing Nets:

At one point during the tour, you might get an opportunity to watch Kerala fishermen at work. To watch a fisherman cast the huge fishing net perfectly into the waters is an amazing sight. Try to capture it in slow-mo if you can! Or if you are passionate about photography, don’t delay in getting your cameras out!

The kayaking tour is a satisfying experience, especially for travellers who love adventure. You get to paddle the kayak, taste the local flavours, experience village life, and enjoy scenic views. All of this happens in just a few hours. So if there is an adventurer inside you, don’t miss out on the kayaking experience!
