Throughout the gently-paced cruise, travelers enjoy views of tropical coconut palms, paddy fields, traditional huts and cottages, beautiful canoes and the ever –active villagers. The delicious food, pleasant sleep and fishing opportunities add to the rich experience. Indeed, a houseboat cruise through the serene backwaters of Kerala creates memories that last a lifetime.

The 4-hour long day cruise offers a beautiful glimpse of the backwaters. It kicks off with a refreshing welcome drink and then, a fulfilling lunch. The menu includes rice, sambar, mixed vegetables curry, fish fry, banana yogurt curry, pappadam, salad, pickle and fruits. The menu can be customised based on your preferences. As the houseboat cruises through narrow canals, you can sit back and enjoy views of villages, paddy fields, churches and temples. You will also hear nature calling out to you in the chirping of birds and the paddling of waters nearby. For a while, you can sit on the driver’s seat and get a picture taken as you hold the steering wheel. The cruise ends with hot tea and snacks. You can enjoy the last moments relaxing on the sun deck and soaking in all the beauty around you.

The overnight cruise offers a complete houseboat experience. The first four hours of the cruise are spent similar to the time spent on the day cruise. After the evening snacks as the sun begins to set, the sun deck on the houseboat is ideal place to relax and enjoy the scenes around you. During sunset, you can enjoy fishing right from the houseboat with a traditional fishing rod. Your catch can be cooked for dinner. You could also buy fish from the vendors at the shores. Apart from fishing, activities like mehandi, cultural shows and traditional music shows can be arranged at an additional cost.  The dinner menu includes chapatti, dal curry, chicken roast, Vendakka Mezhupurathy (Lady’s finger), rice, raitha and salad. The menu can be customised based on your preferences. After dinner, you could watch a movie on-board and then have pleasant sleep amidst the waters. The warm sunshine wakes you up in the morning. The views seem even better, since you realise that these are going to be the last moments on the boat. The hot coffee makes things even better.
